Carrie Underwood is pretty amazing. I am not a big fan of “reality” television, but I have to admit that Carrie actually has talent. It is nice to see somebody who can sing have some success. I really like that track, Jesus Take the Wheel for some reason. I am Jewish, and clearly not a bible beater. But, there is something about the sound on that track that I really like. I wish Carrie continued success.

I was having a great time hanging out with friends on their boat this past weekend and I was exposed to some new music while we were out on the lake. One of the new artists that I got to check out was country artist, Brad Paisley. Now I am one of those people that things just about all country acts sound the same. Brad, is someone that actually has a pretty unique sound and is not the same old boring country slow talk type of deal. Anyway, it prompted me to see what I could find on the web about Brad. One of the sites I came across was Brad Paisley ringtones, a site dedicated to the artist and supplying some free ringtones that are compatible with most of the new cellphones that use mp3 ringtones. So, if you are a fan, go ahead and head on over.

It is common knowledge that the RIAA has been on the war path this year, looking to put the clamps down on illegal music trading across the internet. Clearly they are facing an uphill battle. Now it appears that independent record labels, composers and songwriters are getting in on the action and are looking for reform in the world of copyright law.
The group, comprised of independent record labels, composers and songwriters,

Napster appears to be heading back to their roots as a free music download “service.” To be honest, I am not sure how Napster was able to continue on operating the way they did for so long. But, yesterday, they announced that they would be offering US customers free music downloads in the coming weeks.

Anyone been over to check out Google Video lately? They have all kinds of free music videos as well as all kinds of other crazy videos going on over there. I couldn’t believe how much stuff they haver over there to be honest. Most of the video content is categorized into some kind of general categories. For instance, there is the music video category where you can see free music videos as well as check out a little teaser video of videos that you can buy. Pretty Cool.
Some other sites that I have come across lately:
I came across a cool site for Brad Paisley, Brad Paisley ringtones, has ringtones and lyrics. Pretty cool if you are into Mr. Paisley’s music. I am. Also, found another cool one at Jack Johnson ringtones. As you can tell I have been on the lookout for some free ringtones lately. It is becoming a little more difficult to find them, but I am on the lookout.

Ok, so I have not been around to post much here lately, but that does not mean that we are not busy doing other things music related. There are some really cool things coming down the pipeline soon. One of my new hobbies however is collecting ringtones for my new Cingular 8125 phone. I found a cool site that is offering 10 free Cingular ringtones for Cingular customers. Free is a pretty cool deal so I figured I would throw a link up to their site here.

Well, how cool is this. The Sex Pistols make the Roll and Roll Hall of Fame rolls this year. I am not sure that I thought about them making the list of entrants, but hearing that they have made the cut, I think it is pretty damn cool.
In the space of about a year, the Sex Pistols released one album, horrified the Western world with their obnoxious music and broke up. In the process, they galvanized a generation, changed the course of pop music and set a standard — angry, uncompromising, intensely passionate — for future bands that would dare to assume the mantle of punk Rock. Tonight, almost three decades after the release of that seminal 1977 album, “Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols,” the group — singer Johnny Rotten, guitarist Steve Jones, drummer Paul Cook, bassist Glen Matlock and his more famous replacement, the late Sid Vicious — will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum at a ceremony at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.

CIMA, or the Canadian Independent Music Awards were last night, in case you were not watching. Some good bands picked up some awards including The Arcade Fire. Of course, The Arcade Fire are a Canadian band, but I think they deserved the award for “favorite album”…I guess that is how they say it up there…ey?
The Arcade Fire, Bedouin Soundclash and Dallas Green were among artists honoured Wednesday at the Canadian Independent Music Awards. Montreal’s the Arcade Fire won favourite album for Funeral…
